Attending an eyetest at Alpha Optical

After the end of Victorian stage 4 lockdown, we have now returned to full-scope optometry care. All are welcomed to make bookings.

Our shop will open 10-5:30 Mon/Wed/Fri and Sat. We are currently booked approximately 2 weeks in advance. If your need is urgent, you may speak to one of our friendly staffs so we can try and accommodate your needs. We are very grateful for your understanding and patience.

We have 3 fully-qualified and experienced optometrists in our team –

  • Simon Liu
  • Michelle Xiaoxuan Li
  • Michelle Foo

We will need to adhere to booking and cleaning protocol for our eyetesting services so we can maintain a clean environment for our patients. We have also installed hand sanitising stations which you are required to use before attending the eye test.

You will need to wear a mask to attend our practice. During the tests you can remove or partially remove the masks to prevent the fogging up of the lenses during an eyetest.

If you have flu-like symptoms such as fever, runny nose or coughing and have not tested negative to COVID19, we ask that you reschedule your appointment and attend the COVID19 testing clinic to obtain a negative result prior to your appointment.

You can also reduce your time spend inside our practice by completing a patient form before visiting us.

Questions? please call us on 03 9792 5878, complete a quick request form, SMS 0423355736, or email optometry@alphaoptical.com.au.

What does a Viral Conjunctivitis look like?

There are several types of eye inflammation which may be allergic or infective. Due to the recent virus pandemic, it is useful for you to be watchful of the type of conjunctivitis you have. If you experience a red eye that has some of the following viral characteristics, you should visit a COVID19 testing site instead of your usual GP or optometrist –

  • the conjunctivitis appears to be contageous, and may spread between the eyes and within the family
  • the conjunctiva appears to be diffuse pinkish-red, painful and produces watery discharge
  • the surface of the lower conjunctiva appears to be very red with granular bumpy lesions
  • you have fever or flu-like symptoms, or has recently travelled overseas

If you are unsure, you can always contact your local doctor or optometrist and they can try and assist over the phone. Currently, Medicare does subsidise some costs when you have an appointment with your GP over the phone.
